Transporting children to and from school, extra murals, doctor’s appointments, etc.

The hourly rate for an Au Pair ranges from R65 – R140 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and hours worked per week.
The guidelines below provide a general overview of starting salaries for au pairs. Actual salaries should reflect your specific needs and local living costs. As the employer, you’ll be responsible for paying your au pair directly.
Rates starting at R90/hour.
Rates starting at R75/hour.
Rates starting at R65/hour.
R4.00 – R5.00 per km for travel done in the au pair’s own car during working hours.
Live-in au pairs typically earn slightly less, as free accommodation is provided by the family.
Occasional babysitting start at R80/hour. Fair notice should be given to allow the au pair time to adjust their schedule.
